Beth Appleton has been named General Manager – Australia & SVP Marketing – Australasia for Warner Music. Appleton, who joined Warner Music in 2011, will relocate to Sydney from London, where she has served as SVP of Global Marketing since 2014. In her new post, Appleton will oversee the day-to-day operations of Warner Music Australia, as well as marketing for the Australasian region. She will report to Niko Nordström, President of Warner Music Australasia, and will take up the role from January 22, 2018, following the completion of normal immigration procedures.
“Since joining the Warner Music family six years ago, Beth has proved to be an outstanding member of our global team,” said Stu Bergen, CEO, International and Global Commercial Services for Warner Music Group. “She has championed fresh digital strategies and innovative relationships that have hugely benefited our artist campaigns. I know that Niko and Beth will be great partners in leading our Australasian company.”
“Since I moved from Finland to Australia earlier this year, I have been constantly impressed by the calibre and dedication of the Warner team Down Under,” said Niko Nordström. “Beth brings two decades of major label experience to her new post, along with a fantastic knowledge of the entire region, infectious enthusiasm and a passionate devotion to our artists. She will be a tremendous addition to our family, and I know everyone is looking forward to welcoming her back to Sydney.”
“I’ve had the rare privilege of working for Warner Music on two continents and there’s no doubt it is a global music company second to none,” said Beth Appleton. “The future is about developing new and creative ways of bringing our amazing artists’ music to the widest possible audience and I’m excited about continuing to meet that challenge in this new role. I want to thank Stu and Niko for this wonderful opportunity, and my friends and colleagues from around the world for their great support over the past three years.”
Appleton began her music industry career at EMI in the UK before accepting her first position in Australia in 2000 as New Media Director for EMI Australia, where she was promoted to Head of EMI Marketing and New Media Director in 2002. Beth then returned to the UK, where she held senior positions at V2 Music and Universal Music Group before finding a home at Warner Music Australia in 2011 as Director of Marketing and Digital/Business Development. Having been called back to the UK in 2014 to lead Warner Music’s Global Marketing team, she will now make Australia her home again in her new post.
